{"id":411,"date":"2009-11-15T16:40:20","date_gmt":"2009-11-15T21:40:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=411"},"modified":"2009-11-15T16:40:38","modified_gmt":"2009-11-15T21:40:38","slug":"retreat-is-not-the-same-as-surrender","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=411","title":{"rendered":"Retreat is not the same as surrender"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Obama<\/a> does not appear to want to start a gun fight <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">right now<\/span>. \u00a0The Hill reports, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/67833-holder-dials-back-commitment-to-assault-weapons-ban\" target=\"_blank\">Holder dials back his commitment to pushing assault weapons ban<\/a>&#8220;:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.justice.gov\/ag\/\" target=\"_blank\">Attorney General Eric Holder<\/a> is retreating on his commitment to pursue a controversial gun-control measure. Holder\u2019s statements, recently delivered to senators in writing, clearly indicate the Obama administration <strong>is in no rush<\/strong> to reinstate the <a href=\"http:\/\/clintongunban.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">assault weapons ban<\/a> &#8230; Holder adopted a much different tone on the ban than he did in February &#8230; Noting his February statements, <a href=\"http:\/\/coburn.senate.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Sen.
