{"id":382,"date":"2009-11-04T12:29:09","date_gmt":"2009-11-04T17:29:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=382"},"modified":"2009-11-04T12:29:09","modified_gmt":"2009-11-04T17:29:09","slug":"election-aftermath","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=382","title":{"rendered":"Election aftermath"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mikebloomberg.com\" target=\"_blank\">Mayor Bloomberg<\/a> won re-election. \u00a0Gee, what a surprise. \u00a0And he only had to spend <strong>$100,000,000<\/strong> plus of his own money to do it too. \u00a0In spite of this, <a href=\"http:\/\/ny1.com\/1-all-boroughs-news-content\/top_stories\/108383\/ny1-online--2009-nyc-general-election-returns\" target=\"_blank\">all he was able to get was\u00a050.61% of the vote<\/a>. \u00a0Still, a win is a win and we&#8217;re going to have to put up with him for 4 more years. \u00a0The Times <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2009\/11\/04\/nyregion\/04analysis.html\" target=\"_blank\">thinks<\/a> this slim victory will diminish his political clout. \u00a0I like this quote:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8230; \u201cI campaigned for Bloomberg eight years ago,\u201d said David Gibson, 60, a computer worker. \u201cBut he changed because of a strange personality shift that took place. He went from being loveable, likeable and amiable to a guy who comes out very defensive and intolerant.\u201d &#8230;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I think he&#8217;s always been that way. \u00a0It&#8217;s just become that much more apparent to people who don&#8217;t usually pay that close attention to politics. \u00a0As to his antigun agenda, I don&#8217;t see how he comes out in a stronger political position because of this. \u00a0I also don&#8217;t see him stopping one bit either.<\/p>\n<p>Elseware, the only <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mayorsagainstillegalguns.org\" target=\"_blank\">MAIG<\/a> member we specifically targeted was Binghamton Mayor Matt Ryan as being the most vulnerable. \u00a0He is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pressconnects.com\/article\/20091103\/NEWS01\/911030418&amp;\" target=\"_blank\">barely leading his two opponents<\/a> by 61 votes with 39.86% of the vote to GOP challenger Rich David&#8217;s 39.25% and independent candidate Doug Drazen&#8217;s 20.88%. \u00a0The absentee ballots will be looked at and a final vote count will be available on the 12th. \u00a0Even if he does end up winning, he had to spend tens of thousands of his own money to do it.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ssb_list_wrapper\"><li class=\"fb2\" style=\"width:135px\"><iframe src=\"\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gunpoliticsny.com%2F%3Fp%3D382&amp;layout=button_count&amp;action=like&amp;show_faces=false&amp;share=true&amp;width=135&amp;height=21&amp;appId=307091639398582\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none;
