{"id":3497,"date":"2011-02-27T10:34:27","date_gmt":"2011-02-27T15:34:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=3497"},"modified":"2011-02-27T10:34:27","modified_gmt":"2011-02-27T15:34:27","slug":"more-mayors-behaving-badly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=3497","title":{"rendered":"More Mayors behaving badly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is a little old, but I didn&#8217;t know the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mayorsagainstillegalguns.org\" target=\"_blank\">MAIG<\/a> connection until now. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.villageofmonticello.com\" target=\"_blank\">Monticello Mayor Gordon Jenkins<\/a> has been charged with various offenses including selling counterfeit sneakers and failing to collect sales tax.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.recordonline.com\/apps\/pbcs.dll\/article?AID=\/20100610\/NEWS\/6100319\/-1\/NEWS\" target=\"_blank\">Times Herald-Record<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; Authorities searched the business G Man Beauty Supplies and Jenkins&#8217; Clinton Avenue home on Feb. 11 [2010] and found 300 pairs of counterfeit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nike.com\" target=\"_blank\">Nike<\/a> sneakers and suspected knockoff movies. \u00a0A small amount of marijuana was recovered from the home. \u00a0The two are further charged with five sales of counterfeit shoes from September 2009 through February, and failure to collect sales tax &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hudsonvalley.ynn.com\/content\/all_news\/523459\/monticello-mayor-gordon-jenkins-pleads-not-guilty\/\" target=\"_blank\">YNN reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; The [tax] fraud charges were part of 16 counts including felony trademark counterfeiting stemming from a raid on Jenkins&#8217; home and retail store.
