The Albany Common Council<\/a> passed a memorializing resolution RES 6.21.11R<\/a> yesterday calling upon Congress to approve Carolyn McCarthy’s<\/a> magazine prohibition bill H.R. 308<\/a>. \u00a0One Councilman voted against it, Lester Freeman<\/a>. \u00a0The Times Union reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n

“Local gun rights supporters may have found an unlikely ally in Albany\u2019s South End councilman … Lester Freeman, who represents the South End\u2019s 2nd Ward, without explanation, logged the only dissenting vote … \u201cIt\u2019s not something we should be wasting time with,\u201d was Freeman\u2019s first response. \u00a0But he elaborated that he\u2019s also had a pistol permit \u201cfor the past 15 years\u201d and that he worries about the gradual erosion of the right to bear arms bestowed by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution<\/a>. \u00a0\u201cIt just seems like the more regulations we have to impose that have to do with the second amendment, it bothers me,\u201d said Freeman, who is in his first term. \u201cIt\u2019s an assault.
