{"id":3130,"date":"2011-01-11T10:59:35","date_gmt":"2011-01-11T15:59:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=3130"},"modified":"2011-01-11T10:59:35","modified_gmt":"2011-01-11T15:59:35","slug":"gun-control-is-going-nowhere","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=3130","title":{"rendered":"Gun control is going nowhere"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>All the PSH from the antigunners over the Arizona massacre is not going to amount to anything. \u00a0There is simply no public or political support for more gun control.<\/p>\n<p>Look who is going to carry <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/2011\/01\/11\/132826365\/Rep-McCarthy-To-Propose-Ban-On-High-Capacity-Ammo\" target=\"_blank\">new antigun legislation<\/a>: <a href=\"http:\/\/carolynmccarthy.house.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Carolyn McCarthy<\/a> in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.house.gov\" target=\"_blank\">House<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/lautenberg.senate.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Frank Lautenberg<\/a> in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.senate.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Senate<\/a>. \u00a0Neither of these two are what I&#8217;d consider movers and shakers. \u00a0McCarthy is a single issue hack. \u00a0Lautenberg is fossil, well past his prime. \u00a0What are the \u00a0powerbrokers doing?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\" target=\"_blank\">President Obama<\/a> respectfully requested a moment of silence and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/news\/national\/2011\/01\/11\/2011-01-11_bams_mum_as_mike_leads_fight_vs_guns.html\" target=\"_blank\">said nothing about gun control<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Senate #2 <a href=\"http:\/\/durbin.senate.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Dick Durbin<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/thehill.com\/blogs\/blog-briefing-room\/news\/136843-gun-control-debate-restarts-following-shooting\" target=\"_blank\">called for an investigation<\/a> into how the killer obtained his gun, but not for new legislation.<\/li>\n<li>Senate #3 <a href=\"http:\/\/schumer.senate.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Chuck Schumer<\/a> sent out a press release touting <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uticaod.com\/news\/x1062713882\/Federal-contract-to-benefit-Remington-Arms\" target=\"_blank\">Remington&#8217;s new contract<\/a> to produce M24 rifles.<\/li>\n<li>Republicans are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/news\/politics\/war_room\/2011\/01\/11\/gun_control_dead\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">united in their opposition<\/a> to new gun control laws.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Despite the efforts of the lamestream media outlets to suppress the facts, the story about an armed citizen who <a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB10001424052748703779704576073921275131528.html\" target=\"_blank\">ran to help<\/a> but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/news\/national\/2011\/01\/11\/2011-01-11_if_they_hadnt_grabbed_him__i_would_have_shot_him.html\" target=\"_blank\">got there a little late<\/a> is getting out. \u00a0There is also a backlash forming against the old media for their blatantly biased coverage.<\/p>\n<p>Reality is starting to set in for the antis. \u00a0They are simply not going to get away with exploiting this tragedy for political gain.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ssb_list_wrapper\"><li class=\"fb2\" style=\"width:135px\"><iframe src=\"\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gunpoliticsny.com%2F%3Fp%3D3130&amp;layout=button_count&amp;action=like&amp;show_faces=false&amp;share=true&amp;width=135&amp;height=21&amp;appId=307091639398582\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none; overflow:hidden;  width:150px; height:21px;\" allowTransparency=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/li><li class=\"twtr\" style=\"width:90px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/share\" class=\"twitter-share-button\" data-url=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=3130\">&nbsp;<\/a><script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0],p=\/^http:\/.test(d.location)?'http':'https';if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=p+':\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js';fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document, 'script', 'twitter-wjs');<\/script><\/li><li class=\"gplus\" style=\"width:68px\"><div class=\"g-plusone\" data-size=\"medium\" data-href=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=3130\"><\/div><\/li><li class=\"ssb_linkedin\" style=\"width:64px\"><script src=\"\/\/platform.linkedin.com\/in.js\" type=\"text\/javascript\">lang: en_US<\/script><script type=\"IN\/Share\" data-url=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=3130\" data-counter=\"right\"><\/script><\/li><\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>All the PSH from the antigunners over the Arizona massacre is not going to amount to anything. \u00a0There is simply no public or political support for more gun control.
