Exec. Bruce Blakeman<\/a> kicked off his gubernatorial campaign with a big wet fart, <a href=\"https:\/\/wgy.iheart.com\/content\/2026-02-09-gops-blakeman-taps-fulton-county-sheriff-giardino-as-running-mate\/\" target=\"_blank\">initially picking Fulton Co. Sheriff Richard Giardino to be his running mate<\/a> until a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/bern_hogan\/status\/2020935793460887755\" target=\"_blank\">kerfuffle<\/a> forced a change of plans. After some more back and forth, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsday.com\/long-island\/politics\/elections\/richard-giardino-lieutenant-governor-oq08ysnh\" target=\"_blank\">Blakeman went with Madison Co. Sheriff Todd Hood<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Blakeman is uninspiring due to his &#8220;moderate&#8221; beliefs, although I still believe he is <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/5657570-elise-stefanik-suspends-governor-bid\/\" target=\"_blank\">a better candidate than Elise Stefanik<\/a>. I have trouble believing she took her campaign seriously. <\/p>\n<p>However, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Larry_Sharpe_(political_activist)\" target=\"_blank\">Larry Sharpe<\/a>, who ran as the <a href=\"https:\/\/lpny.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Libertarian<\/a> candidate back in &#8217;18, announced <a href=\"https:\/\/spectrumlocalnews.com\/nys\/central-ny\/politics\/2026\/02\/06\/libertarian-larry-sharpe-enters-republican-primary-for-new-york-governor\" target=\"_blank\">his intention to primary Blakeman<\/a> for the Republican line.
