The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/DocketPDF\/24\/24-1046\/357921\/20250501150148754_24-1046-Cert-Amicus-US.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">DOJ has filed an amicus brief in support of the plaintiff<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ca9.uscourts.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">9th Circuit<\/a> case <em><a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.ca9.uscourts.gov\/datastore\/opinions\/2024\/09\/06\/23-16164.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Wolford v. Lopez<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>USA Today <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2025\/07\/19\/trump-supreme-court-gun-regulations\/85243201007\/\" target=\"_blank\">explains<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n<em>&#8220;&#8230; Five Democrat-led, mostly densely populous states passed laws that prohibit bringing a handgun onto someone else\u2019s property without that person\u2019s express consent. Now the Trump administration wants the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Supreme Court<\/a> to declare that such rules in Hawaii, California, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.ny.gov\/news\/governor-hochul-signs-landmark-legislation-strengthen-gun-laws-and-bolster-restrictions\" target=\"_blank\">New York<\/a>, Maryland and New Jersey violate the Constitution. \u201cThe United States has a substantial interest in the preservation of the right to keep and bear arms and in the proper interpretation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/constitution.congress.gov\/constitution\/amendment-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">Second Amendment<\/a>,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/osg\/staff-profile\/solicitor-general-john-sauer\" target=\"_blank\">Solicitor General John Sauer<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/DocketPDF\/24\/24-1046\/357921\/20250501150148754_24-1046-Cert-Amicus-US.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">wrote<\/a> in explaining why the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Department of Justice<\/a> wants the high court to weigh in &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This seems to follow along with <a href=\"https:\/\/radio.foxnews.com\/2025\/03\/10\/president-trumps-80-20-strategy\/\" target=\"_blank\">Trump&#8217;s 80\/20 strategy<\/a> of going after issues that broad support with little opposition.
