{"id":29386,"date":"2025-05-15T16:58:11","date_gmt":"2025-05-15T20:58:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=29386"},"modified":"2025-05-15T17:14:56","modified_gmt":"2025-05-15T21:14:56","slug":"letter-to-bondi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=29386","title":{"rendered":"Letter to Bondi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back in February <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/presidential-actions\/2025\/02\/protecting-second-amendment-rights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">President Trump directed the Attorney General to examine all state gun laws and regulations<\/a> to see if they comply with recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SCOTUS<\/a> rulings on <a href=\"https:\/\/constitutioncenter.org\/the-constitution\/amendments\/amendment-ii\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2nd Amendment rights<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Congresswomen <a href=\"https:\/\/stefanik.house.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elise Stefanik<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/tenney.house.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Claudia Tenney<\/a> have just sent a letter to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/ag\/staff-profile\/meet-attorney-general\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Attorney General Pam Bond<\/a> to review New York&#8217;s gun laws:<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"..\/images\/lettertobondi.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"..\/images\/lettertobondi.jpg\" alt=\"Letter to AG Bondi\" width=\"525\" height=\"679\" \/><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>This is nice, but unless Bondi takes legal action against New York it&#8217;s just light political theater.  I mean something serious, like challenging <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.ny.gov\/news\/safer-streets-governor-hochul-signs-legislation-strengthening-new-yorks-gun-safety-laws-and\" target=\"_blank\">Hochul&#8217;s gun control laws<\/a> and\/or <a href=\"https:\/\/nics.ny.gov\/new-york-secure-ammunition-and-firearms-enforcement-safe-act\" target=\"_blank\">the phony SAFE Act<\/a> all the way to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">SCOTUS<\/a>.
