{"id":2818,"date":"2010-11-24T18:03:21","date_gmt":"2010-11-24T23:03:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=2818"},"modified":"2010-11-24T18:03:21","modified_gmt":"2010-11-24T23:03:21","slug":"the-future-of-microstamping","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=2818","title":{"rendered":"The future of microstamping"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Good article over at The Capitol on the future of microstamping legislation, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nycapitolnews.com\/news\/126\/ARTICLE\/1838\/2010-11-18.html\" target=\"_blank\">Taking another shot.<\/a>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Some highlights:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.andrewcuomo.com\" target=\"_blank\">Andrew Cuomo<\/a>, has come out strongly in favor of microstamping as well, calling it \u201ca common sense and low-cost method of expanding the ability of police to identify guns used in illegal activities.\u201d &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>While this is technically true, what Cuomo actually did was bury his support inside his 200+ page political manifesto. \u00a0I didn&#8217;t see him try to campaign on the issue.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ericschneiderman.com\" target=\"_blank\"> [Eric] Schneiderman<\/a> is not leaving the issue to the governor. Already, he said, he is planning to wield his new authority to support legislation in any way possible &#8230; Sources close to Schneiderman say that his advocacy for the t<\/em><em>echnology could take the form of a program bill introduced in the next legislative session &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>No surprise here. \u00a0I knew he wasn&#8217;t going to let the issue drop.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230;
