{"id":28071,"date":"2024-02-28T16:13:12","date_gmt":"2024-02-28T21:13:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=28071"},"modified":"2024-02-28T16:18:49","modified_gmt":"2024-02-28T21:18:49","slug":"antigun-albany-agenda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=28071","title":{"rendered":"Antigun Albany agenda"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nyagv.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New Yorkers Against Gun Violence<\/a> sent out a solicitation regarding their Albany legislative agenda.<\/p>\n<p>It includes the following bills:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/legislation\/bills\/2023\/A4917\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A-4917A<\/a>\/<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/legislation\/bills\/2023\/S4598\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">S-4598A<\/a><\/strong>, Enacts the &#8220;School Anti-Violence Education Act&#8221;; creates a school anti-violence education program; establishes a school anti-violence education fund.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/legislation\/bills\/2023\/A6665\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A-6665<\/a>\/<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/legislation\/bills\/2023\/S6537\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">S-6537<\/a><\/strong>, Decreases the frequency of lock-down drills in schools; directs that such drills shall be implemented with a trauma-informed approach; permits parents to opt their children out of such drills.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/legislation\/bills\/2023\/A7302\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A-7302<\/a>\/<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/legislation\/bills\/2023\/S2364\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">S-2364A<\/a><\/strong>, Establishes an &#8220;Operation SNUG&#8221; program within the division of criminal justice services which provides grant awards to reduce, prevent or respond to gun violence.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/legislation\/bills\/2023\/A7517\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A-7517A<\/a>\/<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/legislation\/bills\/2023\/S6980\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">S-6980A<\/a><\/strong>, Requires the dissemination of written materials regarding child access prevention and the safe storage of firearms to students and\/or persons in a parental relationship to such students at the beginning of each semester or quarter of the regular school year beginning on and after July 1, 2024.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/legislation\/bills\/2023\/S8479\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">S-8479<\/a><\/strong>, Requires issuers of credit and debit cards to use certain merchant category codes for firearm and ammunition dealers.
