{"id":27569,"date":"2023-10-13T10:27:41","date_gmt":"2023-10-13T14:27:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=27569"},"modified":"2023-10-13T10:34:22","modified_gmt":"2023-10-13T14:34:22","slug":"councilwoman-arrested-on-gun-charge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=27569","title":{"rendered":"Councilwoman arrested on gun charge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/council.nyc.gov\/inna-vernikov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYC Councilwoman Inna Vernikov<\/a> made news recently when <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/09\/16\/meet-nycs-surprising-new-gun-owners-councilwoman-new-mom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">she obtained her pistol license<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Vernikov, who is Jewish, was spotted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityandstateny.com\/politics\/2023\/10\/council-member-inna-vernikov-brought-gun-protest-did-she-break-law\/391185\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">openly carrying a pistol outside a pro-Hamas rally<\/a> and has since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityandstateny.com\/politics\/2023\/10\/council-member-inna-vernikov-arrested-gun-charge\/391189\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">turned herself in to police<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This is the most pro-gun display I can ever recall seeing from an elected official in the state and while I think it is a step forward, it is still lacking.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.ny.gov\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gov.
