According to recent polling, New Yorkers are buying guns for personal protection<\/a>:<\/p>\n

“More than 60% of New Yorkers are worried they\u2019re destined to become a victim of a crime and have taken steps to better protect themselves \u2014 including purchasing a gun, according to a new poll released Wednesday. Seventeen percent of city residents questioned<\/strong> in the Siena College Research Institute poll<\/a> admitted that they\u2019ve bought a firearm in the last year to protect themselves, the study shows …”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Some things coming to mind:<\/p>\n

  1. A lot of people will not admit to pollsters that they own\/purchased firearms especially in the City so the actual number is likely higher than 17%.<\/li>\n
  2. Registered Democrats outnumber Republicans almost 7-1 in NYC so the purchasers are probably Democrats.<\/li>\n
  3. Black women are the hottest demographic buying guns<\/a> right now so a good number of that 17% are also probably black women.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Savvy 2A groups would take advantage of this.<\/p>\n
