The priorities include:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/legislation\/bills\/2023\/S214\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fair Access to Victims Compensation Act<\/a>, which aims to expand and make access to the state&#8217;s victims fund more equitable<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>More funding for community-based and hospital violence intervention services<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/legislation\/bills\/2023\/s4598\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">School Anti-Violence Education Act<\/a><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>&#8230; The group is also continuing to advocate for an overhaul of New York&#8217;s wrongful death statute. The Legislature passed a bill with bipartisan support last session that, among other things, would allows family members of gun violence victims to sue for emotional damages &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This is similar to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=26879\">what Everytown has been lobbying on<\/a>.
