Assemblywoman Pat Fahy<\/a> is one of the worst antigunners in Albany.\u00a0 The Altamont Enterprise highlights her position and her opponent’s positions<\/a>:<\/p>\n

“… On guns, Fahy said, \u201cThe Supreme Court threw out our previous provisions on concealed weapons<\/a> so we came back into session \u2026 the timing, on my view couldn\u2019t have been worse,\u201d she said of the decision, calling it a \u201cslap in the face\u201d to people still dealing with the massacres in Buffalo and Uvalde. Fahy said she \u201cfully supported\u201d the legislation<\/a> now being challenged in federal court<\/a>. \u201cThis is not the Wild West,\u201d she said, adding that licensing guns is not a lot to ask. \u201cYou need a license to drive a car. You need a license to get married.\u201d Being able to carry a concealed gun into a restaurant or a place of worship, \u201cunless you are fully authorized to do so, is, again, going backwards, and it puts all of us at risk,\u201d said Fahy. She noted part of New York\u2019s law reacting to the Supreme Court<\/a> overturning the state\u2019s century-old law on concealed weapons, is that \u201ca mental-health evaluation be done and that a search of your social media be done.\u201d Fahy concluded, \u201cWe think these are reasonable requirements \u2026 If you are going to be carrying a weapon, we need to know a little bit about who you are.\u201d …”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

She’s horrible.\u00a0 Vote for her opponent.<\/p>\n

“… [Alicia Purdy<\/a>] noted the frequency of gun violence in Albany where she lives and said, \u201cIf I were at a library or a shopping store right near my house, or If I were walking on the street or were at a park with my kids, or if I were at church on Sunday and there were a shooter in there, the first thing I would want to do is grab my gun and shoot back. \u201cAnd so I\u2019m a big supporter of the 2nd Amendment<\/a>, the right to have the government not infringe upon our God-given right to bear arms. And all you have to do is take a look at New York city. It\u2019s like a shooting gallery down there. And one of the first things we on the Republican side point to in history is facist governments \u2026 The first step they take is to disarm their people.\u201d Purdy concluded, \u201cI live in the city of Albany. I\u2019m not in Beautiful Guilderland or New Scotland, which are areas in the 109th Assembly District<\/a>. I live in downtown Albany where per capita \u2026 which means proportionally, we are on a par with the city of Chicago per capita for our shootings and homicides \u2026. \u201cI really do firmly believe that one of the best ways to let people know that they\u2019re not allowed to take my life from me is if I\u2019m willing and ready to defend my life using any means necessary.\u201d …”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Purdy missed the opportunity to point out that despite all of the existing gun control laws, much of which Fahy voted for, “gun violence” is out of control in her district. Nevertheless, she’d be an improvement over Fahy so support her campaign on November 8.<\/p>\n
