{"id":26237,"date":"2022-09-14T18:16:10","date_gmt":"2022-09-14T22:16:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=26237"},"modified":"2022-09-14T18:16:10","modified_gmt":"2022-09-14T22:16:10","slug":"city-council-declares-times-square-a-sensitive-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=26237","title":{"rendered":"City Council declares Times Square a &#8220;sensitive area&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/council.nyc.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">City Council<\/a> passed two gun control bills today:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/legistar.council.nyc.gov\/Legislation.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">INT 518A-2022<\/a><\/strong>, Requires the <a href=\"https:\/\/criminaljustice.cityofnewyork.us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mayor\u2019s Office of Criminal Justice<\/a> to coordinate with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www1.nyc.gov\/site\/nypd\/index.page\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York City Police Department<\/a> to conduct a study and issue an annual report to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www1.nyc.gov\/office-of-the-mayor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mayor<\/a> and City Council Speaker on the trafficking of illegal firearms into New York City.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/legistar.council.nyc.gov\/Legislation.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">INT 602-2022<\/a><\/strong>, For the purposes of state penal law definition of sensitive area for the carrying of guns, defines the area commonly known as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timessquarenyc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Times Square<\/a>.
