Last year Albany passed legislation, A-6762B<\/a>\/S-7196<\/a><\/strong>, encouraging lawsuits against the firearms industry based upon a “public nuisance” theory.<\/p>\n

The first such lawsuit has been filed<\/a>:<\/p>\n

“A New York City woman wounded in last month’s mass shooting on a Brooklyn subway<\/a> filed a lawsuit Tuesday against the maker of the handgun allegedly used in the attack and its parent company, accusing the firearm manufacturer of \u201creckless disregard for human life.” … In her lawsuit, filed in federal court in Brooklyn, Ilene Steur said Glock<\/a> has \u201cendangered the public health and safety” with the marketing, distribution and sales of its guns … In the lawsuit, Glock is accused of \u201cmarketing that emphasizes firearm characteristics such as their high capacity and ease of concealment, that appeal to prospective purchasers with criminal intent.” …”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This is complete BS. It’s like accusing McDonald’s<\/a> of marketing burgers to fat people. <\/p>\n

The PLCAA<\/a> should block the case from moving forward, but the main idea behind the law is the flood the courts with such lawsuits and bleed the industry of money.<\/p>\n
