Joe Biden<\/a> released his gun control agenda<\/a>:<\/p>\n

“… I am calling on Congress to enact commonsense gun law reforms, including requiring background checks on all gun sales, banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and eliminating immunity for gun manufacturers who knowingly put weapons of war on our streets …”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

My thoughts on this.<\/p>\n

  1. The rollout of his agenda was Meh<\/a>.\u00a0 Usually when introducing some proposal, the Left will put on some political theater for the press to justify whatever it is they want to do and give the illusion of existing public support.\u00a0 Not this time.\u00a0 There was clearly some level of co-ordination between antigun activists and electeds, but no big media event like a Rose Garden presser or gathering on Capitol Hill steps with politicians and supporters.<\/li>\n
  2. Democrats do not appear enthused about Biden’s proposals or the issue in general.\u00a0 Some do, but gun control is a proven stinker for the party at the polls and they know it.\u00a0 They know if they enact any significant new gun control they will pay a price at the next election.<\/li>\n
  3. Not this shit again (smh)…<\/em>\u00a0 Banning “assault weapons” has been going on for 30 years.\u00a0 It clearly has no public benefit, but fringe advocates keep bringing up the same, tired old arguments over and over again.\u00a0 The issue is worn out.<\/li>\n
  4. The NRA<\/a> doesn’t matter as much as antigun advocates think it does.\u00a0 NRA’s problems<\/a>, as a corporation, are entirely<\/u> the fault of the Board and Executive staff.\u00a0 But public support for gun rights does not come from the NRA, rather NRA exists because of public support for 2A.\u00a0 Gun control advocates either fail to grasp this point or are unwilling to admit it.\u00a0 Gun control is a lunatic fringe position.\u00a0 2A is mainstream and support is rising<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  5. Nobody is happy about having either Biden or Harris<\/a> in the White House<\/a>.\u00a0 I do not believe either can use the bully pulpit to browbeat Congress to support their agenda.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
