{"id":21929,"date":"2020-06-09T10:07:18","date_gmt":"2020-06-09T14:07:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=21929"},"modified":"2020-06-09T10:07:18","modified_gmt":"2020-06-09T14:07:18","slug":"mike-lipetri-for-congress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=21929","title":{"rendered":"Mike LiPetri For Congress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheMikeLiPetri\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Assemblyman Mike LiPetri<\/a> is one of the better candidates running on Long Island.\u00a0 He is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/news\/politics\/ny-long-island-assemblyman-mike-lipetri-congress-peter-king-20200101-jyjmmr55bzhgxiydrxch4qxlea-story.html\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">looking to succeed<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Peter_T._King\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Peter King<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latfor.state.ny.us\/maps\/2012c\/CD_map_rep_02.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Congressional District 2<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/patch.com\/new-york\/deerpark-northbabylon\/candidate-profile-mike-lipetri-congress\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">His position on 2A<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; I am a strong supporter of working men and women and our fundamental liberties as Americans including the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/constitution\/second_amendment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2nd Amendment<\/a>. My opponent voted for legislation that strips gun owners of the right to bear arms without due process. I voted against this and am proud of my &#8220;A&#8221; rating and endorsement from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nrapvf.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NRA<\/a>. Law-abiding Americans have every right to defend their homes, businesses, and families and I will always fight to defend these freedoms &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>His GOP primary opponent is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.garbarinoforny.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Assemblyman Andrew Garbarino<\/a>.
