{"id":21876,"date":"2020-05-28T13:50:42","date_gmt":"2020-05-28T17:50:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=21876"},"modified":"2020-05-28T13:50:42","modified_gmt":"2020-05-28T17:50:42","slug":"eating-their-own-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=21876","title":{"rendered":"Eating their own"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A number of years ago George Soros-backed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.davidsoares.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">David Soares<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2004\/09\/16\/soros-topples-da-in-war-over-drugs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">upset an incumbent<\/a> to become <a href=\"https:\/\/www.albanycountyda.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Albany County District Attorney<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>During Soares&#8217; time in office, he&#8217;s been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wamc.org\/post\/albany-county-da-soares-weighs-guns-mayor-jennings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a strong advocate<\/a> for gun control.\u00a0 Now, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/newsletters\/new-york-playbook\/2020\/02\/12\/left-turns-on-one-time-champion-for-albany-da-reckless-driver-crackdown-passed-bloomberg-under-new-scrutiny-for-stop-and-frisk-488309\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">people who put him in office<\/a> are turning on him.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesunion.com\/news\/article\/Toporowski-outraising-Soares-in-DA-campaign-15298845.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">According to the Times-Union<\/a>, the Left&#8217;s newest darling challenger <a href=\"https:\/\/mattforalbany.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matt Toporowski<\/a> has outraised Soares 2-1.\u00a0 I am unaware of Toporowski&#8217;s position on 2A, but have low expectations for him.
