{"id":21723,"date":"2020-05-10T11:52:06","date_gmt":"2020-05-10T15:52:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=21723"},"modified":"2020-05-10T11:52:06","modified_gmt":"2020-05-10T15:52:06","slug":"phillips-on-scotus-decision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=21723","title":{"rendered":"Phillips on SCOTUS decision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While Republican &#8220;leaders&#8221; like <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NickLangworthy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nick Langworthy<\/a> have been silent about it, <a href=\"https:\/\/romesentinel.com\/stories\/political-roundup-reopening-panel-representation-problem-solvers-gop-22nd-race,97905\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the Rome Sentinel printed George Phillips&#8217; remarks<\/a> on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abajournal.com\/news\/article\/scotus-tosses-closely-watched-gun-rights-case-as-moot-kavanaugh-urges-new-cert-grant\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the recent SCOTUS decision<\/a> in their weekly campaign roundup:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;Republican congressional candidate <a href=\"https:\/\/phillipsfornewyork.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">George Phillips<\/a> took aim at the U.S. Supreme Court&#8217;s &#8220;moot&#8221; ruling on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scotusblog.com\/case-files\/cases\/new-york-state-rifle-pistol-association-inc-v-city-of-new-york-new-york\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. City of New York<\/a>, a law that prevented gun owners from taking their weapons from home to shooting ranges, saying the court should have explored issues raised in it even though the city later withdrew the specific restriction.
