{"id":21686,"date":"2020-05-08T16:51:43","date_gmt":"2020-05-08T20:51:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=21686"},"modified":"2020-05-08T20:49:12","modified_gmt":"2020-05-09T00:49:12","slug":"primary-candidates-for-rockland-senate-seat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=21686","title":{"rendered":"Primary candidates for Rockland Senate seat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Pearl River Patch <a href=\"https:\/\/patch.com\/new-york\/pearlriver\/orangetown-democrats-pick-state-senate-nominee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;Backed by an overwhelming vote of our membership, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orangetowndems.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Orangetown Democratic Committee<\/a> has endorsed Nyack Village Trustee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elijahforsenate.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Elijah Reichlin-Melnick for State Senate<\/a> in the upcoming June 23 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latfor.state.ny.us\/maps\/2012s\/SD_map_rep_38.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">District 38<\/a> Democratic Primary. Reichlin-Melnick is an elected Nyack Village Trustee, and is also the legislative director for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/senators\/james-skoufis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">State Senator James Skoufis<\/a>, who represents north Rockland and Orange County &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>What is his position on 2A?<\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elijahforsenate.com\/issues\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">his campaign website<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><strong>Working to end the gun violence epidemic and protect our families<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The gun violence epidemic has taken thousands of lives in communities across the nation and impacts all of us. Children, teachers, and parents now live in fear that deadly violence could shatter the safety of our schools. We must do more to end the threat of gun violence.
