“Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney (D-Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn)<\/a> has been awarded the 2020 Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate Distinction. Rep. Maloney said, \u201cMoms Demand<\/a> has been an incredible force for action to end gun violence in America, and I am so proud to have been awarded their 2020 Gun Sense Candidate Distinction. The toll gun violence takes on our country can be measured in lives, it can be measured in its economic impact, its impact on our health care system, and the traumas we inflict on our children. It has to end, and I am proud to continue fighting beside them to create this change.\u201d In awarding this distinction, Moms Demand thanked Maloney \u201cfor advocating for gun violence prevention and making a commitment to govern with gun safety in mind.\u201d”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Maloney is facing several primary challengers<\/a> in next month’s election.\u00a0 With primary turnout normally low, possibly even lower this time around because of COVID-19, I would surmise she’s calling in favors to help keep her seat.<\/p>\n
