Such support follows 12 years in the state <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Senate<\/a> during which the Upper West Side native gained a reputation as a staunch advocate for liberal causes, ranging from <strong>gun control<\/strong> to gay marriage to tax hikes on the rich &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This hasn&#8217;t helped him in <a href=\"http:\/\/polhudson.lohudblogs.com\/2010\/08\/13\/whos-got-the-dough\/\" target=\"_blank\">the money race<\/a> nor with the <a href=\"http:\/\/readme.readmedia.com\/PEF-Endorses-Richard-Brodsky-for-Attorney-General\/1694284\" target=\"_blank\">big public unions<\/a>. \u00a0His stance on gun control has gotten him nothing from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bradycampaign.org\" target=\"_blank\">Brady&#8217;s<\/a> and only $750 from two of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nyagv.org\" target=\"_blank\">NYAGVs<\/a> directors.
