{"id":2005,"date":"2010-07-26T11:40:53","date_gmt":"2010-07-26T15:40:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=2005"},"modified":"2010-07-26T11:40:53","modified_gmt":"2010-07-26T15:40:53","slug":"i-gotta-vote-with-the-nra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=2005","title":{"rendered":"I gotta vote with the NRA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/liveshots.blogs.foxnews.com\/2010\/07\/26\/pro-gun-dems-may-get-a-boost\/\" target=\"_blank\">Good news<\/a> at the federal level:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unh.edu\" target=\"_blank\">University of New Hampshire<\/a> Professor of Politics, Andrew Smith, says Democrats started moving away from a strong anti-gun stance in the 90&#8217;s when many in the party blamed the issue on <a href=\"http:\/\/clintongunban.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">massive political losses<\/a> in Congress &#8230; \u00a0The slow political shift has frustrated some Democrats that have long fought for tougher gun laws, like New York <a href=\"http:\/\/carolynmccarthy.house.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy<\/a> &#8230; &#8220;They&#8217;ve been very open about saying&#8230; &#8216;Carolyn, if the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nra.org\" target=\"_blank\">NRA<\/a> comes against a bill, I gotta vote with the NRA.&#8217; They&#8217;re not going to take that chance. I understand that,&#8221; said McCarthy of her Democratic colleagues. &#8220;Does it bother me? Of course, it bothers me because I&#8217;m not trying to take away anyone&#8217;s right to own a gun.&#8221; &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>At least some of the Democrats are wising up to what a political stinker gun control is. \u00a0As for McCarthy, her last statement is an outright, boldfaced, bullshit lie. \u00a0Her one, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">only<\/span> one, goal is a total prohibition on private firearms ownership that is enforced at gun point by the police. \u00a0That is what her entirely political career has always been about and always will be about. \u00a0She just will not say it in public. \u00a0She knows what she is doing is wrong. \u00a0She knows what she is doing is harmful. \u00a0She does not care one bit.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ssb_list_wrapper\"><li class=\"fb2\" style=\"width:135px\"><iframe src=\"\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gunpoliticsny.com%2F%3Fp%3D2005&amp;layout=button_count&amp;action=like&amp;show_faces=false&amp;share=true&amp;width=135&amp;height=21&amp;appId=307091639398582\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none;
