{"id":20002,"date":"2019-09-02T17:43:55","date_gmt":"2019-09-02T21:43:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=20002"},"modified":"2019-09-02T17:43:55","modified_gmt":"2019-09-02T21:43:55","slug":"jacobsons-body-armor-bills","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=20002","title":{"rendered":"Jacobson&#8217;s body armor bills"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.hudsonvalley.com\/fray\/2019\/08\/30\/jacobson-proposes-ban-on-bullet-proof-vests-for-civilians\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Fray reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/nyassembly.gov\/mem\/Jonathan-G-Jacobson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Assemblyman Jonathan Jacobson<\/a> has introduced two bills in response to the recent <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/5643405\/what-to-know-shooting-dayton-ohio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mass shooting in Dayton<\/a> that would forbid anyone other than a law enforcement officer from owning a bullet-proof vest and make it a separate crime for a civilian to wear a bullet-proof vest while committing any other offense. \u201cUnless you are actively working in law enforcement or in a handful of occupations, there is no legitimate reason to purchase or own a bullet-proof vest,\u201d Jacobson, a City of Newburgh Democrat, said in a statment. \u201cBullet-proof vests are necessary to protect those whose professions put them at risk of injury.
