{"id":18891,"date":"2019-04-21T12:21:45","date_gmt":"2019-04-21T16:21:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=18891"},"modified":"2019-04-21T12:21:45","modified_gmt":"2019-04-21T16:21:45","slug":"nra-should-sponsor-this","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=18891","title":{"rendered":"NRA should sponsor this"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brooklyndems.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brooklyn Democrat Committee<\/a> will hold <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brooklyndems.com\/2019_gala\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">their annual gala<\/a> on May 9th.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nra.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NRA<\/a> should sponsor this event.\u00a0 There are several reasons for this.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Right now NRA has absolutely no standing in Albany with the party.\u00a0 With <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydems.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Democrats<\/a> holding more than 2x the number of seats as the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nygop.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Republicans<\/a> in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nyassembly.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Assembly<\/a> and nearly that many in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Senate<\/a> they have no ability to influence any legislation, pro or anti.\u00a0 The status quo is unacceptable.<\/li>\n<li>NRA has thrown plenty of money over the years into the party accounts of both the Republicans and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cpnys.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Conservatives<\/a> in an attempt to influence policy.
