{"id":18803,"date":"2019-03-31T10:16:51","date_gmt":"2019-03-31T14:16:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=18803"},"modified":"2019-03-31T10:16:51","modified_gmt":"2019-03-31T14:16:51","slug":"nra-should-support-decriminalizing-marijuana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=18803","title":{"rendered":"NRA should support decriminalizing marijuana"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2019\/03\/31\/cuomo-and-state-lawmakers-reach-last-minute-agreement-on-budget-plan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Governor and legislature have reached an agreement on the state budget<\/a>.\u00a0 As usual it&#8217;s a fiscal policy disaster.<\/p>\n<p>One item that did not make it is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.democratandchronicle.com\/story\/news\/politics\/albany\/2019\/03\/30\/legalized-marijuana-new-york-have-wait\/3319356002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">recreational marijuana<\/a>.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/nyassembly.gov\/mem\/David-DiPietro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Assemblyman David DiPietro<\/a> vlogged that if it became law any gun owner who purchased pot could lose their firearms.\u00a0 His post received <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wkbw.com\/news\/local-news\/assemblymans-facebook-post-about-weapons-and-weed-goes-viral\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">way more attention<\/a> that I thought it would:<\/p>\n<p><center><\/p>\n<div class=\"scripps_iframe_embed\" style=\"position:relative;\">\n<div style=\"display:block;width:100%;height:auto;padding-bottom:56.25%;\"><\/div>\n<p><iframe style=\"position:absolute;top:0;left:0;width:100%; height:100%;\" border=\"0\" height=\"100%\" frameborder=\"0\" webkitallowfullscreen=\"\" allowfullscreen=\"\" mozallowfullscreen=\"\" scrolling=\"no\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.scrippsdigital.com\/cms\/videoIframe.html?&#038;host=www.wkbw.com&#038;title=Weapons%20vs.%20weed%3A%20one%20assemblyman's%20warning&#038;m3u8=https:\/\/content.uplynk.com\/b0a9d10611da4e699498c6055b66d03e.m3u8&#038;purl=\/news\/local-news\/assemblymans-facebook-post-about-weapons-and-weed-goes-viral&#038;story=0&#038;ex=1&#038;s=wkbw\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Gun groups including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nra.org\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">NRA<\/a> getting involved with non-gun issues is bad policy.  However, I believe NRA should make a statement about decriminalizing weed at the federal level.
