Congress passed H.R.8 this past week<\/a>.\u00a0 House Republicans<\/a> managed to get a poison pill<\/a> inserted into the bill requiring notification of I.C.E.<\/a> if an illegal immigrant tries to buy a gun.<\/p>\n

This upset Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez<\/a>:<\/p>\n

“House Democrats<\/a> exploded in recriminations Thursday over moderates bucking the party, with liberal Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez<\/a> threatening to put those voting with Republicans \u201con a list\u201d for a primary challenge … But Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), the unquestioned media superstar of the freshman class, upped the ante, admonishing the moderates and indicating she would help liberal activists unseat them in the 2020 election. Corbin Trent, a spokesman for Ocasio-Cortez, said she told her colleagues that Democrats who side with Republicans \u201care putting themselves on a list.\u201d \u201cShe said that when activists ask her why she had to vote for a gun safety bill that also further empowers an agency that forcibly injects kids with psychotropic drugs, they\u2019re going to want a list of names and she\u2019s going to give it to them,\u201d Trent said, referring to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement …”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I doubted the Senate<\/a> would take up the bill before and with this amendment I believe the issue is dead for the session.\u00a0 Democrats are more concerned with supporting illegals than with pleasing antigun activists.<\/p>\n
