{"id":1809,"date":"2010-06-30T13:53:02","date_gmt":"2010-06-30T17:53:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=1809"},"modified":"2010-06-30T13:53:48","modified_gmt":"2010-06-30T17:53:48","slug":"falling-all-over-themselves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=1809","title":{"rendered":"Falling all over themselves"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Candidates are falling all over themselves looking for support from <em>the gun vote<\/em>. \u00a0From the Adirondack Daily Enterprise, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/adirondackdailyenterprise.com\/page\/content.detail\/id\/514068.html\" target=\"_blank\">5 candidates for 2 seats say they favor gun rights<\/a>&#8220;:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; All three candidates in New York&#8217;s 23rd Congressional District and all two in New York&#8217;s 20th District say they agree with a federal <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/news\/washington\/judicial\/2010-06-28-gun-rights-supreme-court-ruling_N.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Supreme Court decision Monday<\/a> that said the federal constitutional guarantee of an individual&#8217;s right to bear arms overrides laws that state and local governments pass &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Second Amendment: The new normal.*<\/p>\n<p>For CD-20:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chrisgibsonforcongress.com\" target=\"_blank\">Chris Gibson<\/a> says he is &#8220;an outspoken supporter of the right to bear arms and to protect one&#8217;s life, loved ones and property,&#8221; &#8230; \u00a0&#8220;This ruling reaffirms our constitutional right and protects this right from overreaching state and local governments who forget that they too are obligated to uphold the constitution &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230;\u00a0251 representatives and 58 senators who signed an amicus curiae brief asking Chicago&#8217;s handgun ban be overturned &#8230; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scottmurphyforcongress.com\" target=\"_blank\">Rep. Murphy, D-Glens Falls<\/a>, who said he signed it &#8220;because the government does not have the right to violate the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Second_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution\" target=\"_blank\">Second Amendment<\/a> and strip American citizens of this critical freedom. This landmark decision will further strengthen the constitutional precedent and protect our rights from unjust laws for years to come.&#8221; &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>For CD-23:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billowensforcongress.com\" target=\"_blank\">Bill Owens<\/a> says he is a &#8220;strong supporter of the Second Amendment.&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.doughoffmanforcongress.com\" target=\"_blank\">Doug Hoffman<\/a>, however, says he is a &#8220;vocal supporter of our Second Amendment rights,&#8221;
