{"id":17826,"date":"2018-10-20T14:35:21","date_gmt":"2018-10-20T18:35:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=17826"},"modified":"2018-10-20T14:35:21","modified_gmt":"2018-10-20T18:35:21","slug":"takeaway-from-the-faso-delgado-debate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=17826","title":{"rendered":"Takeaway from the Faso-Delgado debate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Polls show <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latfor.state.ny.us\/maps\/2012c\/CD_map_rep_19.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CD-19<\/a> is <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.fivethirtyeight.com\/polls\/house\/new-york\/19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">clearly in play<\/a>.\u00a0 Challenger <a href=\"https:\/\/delgadoforcongress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Antonio Delgado<\/a> has been <a href=\"https:\/\/giffords.org\/2018\/07\/giffords-endorses-new-wave-of-candidates-stepping-up-to-challenge-gun-lobby-backed-politicians\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">endorsed by Giffords<\/a> and although he has been taking care not to mention his position on 2A it did come up during the recent debate with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnfaso.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Congressman John Faso<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.poughkeepsiejournal.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2018\/10\/19\/faso-delgado-battle-first-tv-debate-critical-house-seat\/1695841002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">From the Poughkeepsie Journal<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; Delgado said he supports new gun-control measures and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/wex\/second_amendment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Second Amendment<\/a>\u00a0rights of residents, &#8220;but like any other right, it has its limits.&#8221;\u00a0 Faso responded, &#8220;I support the 2nd\u00a0Amendment. Mr. Delgado is clear he does not.&#8221; &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesunion.com\/news\/article\/Faso-Delgado-square-off-in-testy-televised-debate-13321439.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">From the Times-Union<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; Delgado argued that he could bring a valuable outside perspective to Washington, D.C., as someone who grew up middle class in Schenectady and went on to attend <a href=\"https:\/\/hls.harvard.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Harvard Law School<\/a> and become a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rhodesscholar.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rhodes scholar<\/a>.
