{"id":17730,"date":"2018-10-08T13:02:30","date_gmt":"2018-10-08T17:02:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=17730"},"modified":"2018-10-08T13:02:30","modified_gmt":"2018-10-08T17:02:30","slug":"wofford-is-the-best-choice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=17730","title":{"rendered":"Wofford is the best choice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wofford4ag.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GOP Attorney General Candidate Keith Wofford<\/a> is the best candidate for gun owners to get behind in a statewide race this year.\u00a0 There&#8217;s a few reasons I say this.<\/p>\n<p>First, as the Daily News <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/news\/politics\/ny-pol-wofford-james-attorney-general-20181007-story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reports<\/a> he has access to money:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;In the battle for state attorney general, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wofford4ag.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Republican Keith Wofford<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tishjames2018.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Democrat Letitia James<\/a> are neck-in-neck when it comes to campaign cash, new filings show. Wofford, a corporate lawyer and first-time candidate, reported late last week having a little more than $400,000 remaining while James has about $384,000. Wofford since mid July spent just under $1.4 million on his campaign, including $1.1 million toward a planned $3.25 million ad campaign &#8230; James, who unlike Wofford had to run in a primary, reported since her Sept. 23 post primary filing raising $320,294 and spending $210,379 \u2014including $100,000 on TV ads &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>All serious candidates for public office must have access to adequate financial resources to run a creditable campaign.\u00a0 Ideas mean nothing without a way to implement them and implementation usually requires cash.<\/p>\n<p>Second, while <a href=\"https:\/\/scri.siena.edu\/2018\/10\/01\/cuomo-leads-molinaro-50-28-percent-nixon-gets-10-percent-on-wfp-line-other-minor-party-candidates-get-4-percent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">still behind in the polls<\/a> it doesn&#8217;t look as bad as the gubernatorial race:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; James holds a 14-point lead, 50-36 percent, over Wofford.
