Bill <a href=\"http:\/\/www.assembly.state.ny.us\/leg\/?bn=s6005\" target=\"_blank\">S-6005A<\/a> would have prevented honest citizens from exercising their right to own handguns for self-defense. The Senators who spoke in favor of passage demonstrated their complete lack of common sense and utter contempt for our civil rights. Even more disgraceful was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nyc.gov\/mayor\" target=\"_blank\">Mayor Michael Bloomberg&#8217;s<\/a> shameless attempts to buy passage of this legislation with the implied promise of providing financial support to the re-election campaigns of Senators who support the bill. <\/em><em>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysrpa.org\" target=\"_blank\">New York State Rifle &amp; Pistol Association<\/a> thanks <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/senator\/dean-g-skelos\" target=\"_blank\">Senator Dean Skelos<\/a> and his conference for doing the right thing and not supporting this bill, along with Senators <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/senator\/william-t-stachowski\" target=\"_blank\">William Stachowski<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/senator\/darrel-j-aubertine\" target=\"_blank\">Darrel Aubertine<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/senator\/david-j-valesky\" target=\"_blank\">David Valesky<\/a> for putting principle above party politics and voting against S-6005A.&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Aubertine sent out <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/press-release\/aubertine-vote-upholds-rights-sportsmen-gun-owners\" target=\"_blank\">his own press statement<\/a> yesterday:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;New York State Sen. Darrel J. Aubertine today said the lack of votes for proposed microstamping legislation on the Senate floor is a victory for Upstate New York, law abiding gun owners and our economy.
