Last month I warned about a possible Republican sell out<\/a> on gun control.<\/p>\n

With the passage of A-10272<\/a>\/S-8121<\/a><\/strong> I knew someone caved.\u00a0 It’s not hard to make an educated guess as to who and why, but I wanted something more concrete.<\/p>\n

Buried in a State of Politics post is this nugget<\/a> which identifies the rat:<\/p>\n

“… The measure\u2019s approval, which came with the aid of Democratic votes in the Senate<\/a>, was a victory for Sen. Elaine Phillips<\/a>, a Republican who represents suburban Nassau County and a swing district that Democrats have long hoped to flip …”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I’ll make a (not so) bold prediction: Philips gets neither an endorsement nor campaign contribution from gun control groups because of her vote and, assuming she has a Democrat opponent this fall, they will hammer her on the issue anyway.<\/p>\n
