{"id":15519,"date":"2017-12-13T14:12:36","date_gmt":"2017-12-13T19:12:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=15519"},"modified":"2017-12-13T14:12:36","modified_gmt":"2017-12-13T19:12:36","slug":"cuomos-domestic-violence-proposal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=15519","title":{"rendered":"Cuomo&#8217;s domestic violence proposal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news10.com\/2017\/12\/13\/gov-cuomo-to-propose-plan-to-remove-firearms-from-domestic-abusers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WTEN reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;During <a href=\"http:\/\/www.governor.ny.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Governor Andrew Cuomo\u2019s<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.ny.gov\/keywords\/state-state\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2018 State of the State<\/a> address, he plans to announce a proposal on removing firearms from domestic abusers.\u00a0 The governor\u2019s office says given the inextricable link between domestic violence and lethal gun violence, the legislation will require anyone convicted of a domestic violence crime convictions, including misdemeanors, to have firearms immediately removed.\u00a0 The legislation would also add measures to keep firearms out of the hands of those who commit domestic violence &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span class=\" UFICommentActorAndBody\"> <span data-ft=\"{&quot;tn&quot;:&quot;K&quot;}\"><span class=\"UFICommentBody\">No bill has been introduced yet, but it is probably going to require anyone <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">simply accused<\/span> of domestic violence to give up their guns.
