welcome defeat<\/a> on election day:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; There was a time, however, when the Nassau GOP was the most respected and powerful political organization in the nation &#8230; But over time, the GOP machine began to rust.\u00a0 Efficiently servicing the taxpayers took a backseat to rewarding political cronies with patronage and contracts &#8230; Meanwhile, the aging political machine\u2019s influence at the polling booth continued to decline &#8230; The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=15362\">disastrous results on Election Day 2017<\/a> were the final nails in the coffin of the once mighty organization &#8230; Nassau Republicans are finished because their arrogance, incompetence and indifference to voter concerns has caught up with them &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I would add the local Republicans sell-out first on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2000\/08\/10\/nyregion\/pataki-signs-nation-s-strictest-gun-controls.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pataki&#8217;s 5-Point Plan<\/a> then again on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/10\/25\/nyregion\/with-gun-act-cuomo-alienates-upstate-new-york-constituency.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cuomo&#8217;s SAFE Act<\/a> played a big part in this collapse as well especially considering Martin&#8217;s campaigning loudly on his SAFE vote.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ssb_list_wrapper\"><li class=\"fb2\" style=\"width:135px\"><iframe src=\"\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gunpoliticsny.com%2F%3Fp%3D15441&amp;layout=button_count&amp;action=like&amp;show_faces=false&amp;share=true&amp;width=135&amp;height=21&amp;appId=307091639398582\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none;
