Maloney (@RepMaloney) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepMaloney\/status\/916680126032617472?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 7, 2017<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/center><\/p>\n<p>This is why the antigun agenda is mostly dead around the country except, of course, for a few places like New York.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s just the same tired, old bunch of professional politicians and activists talking to each other in an echo chamber.  They&#8217;re not changing anyone&#8217;s mind.  None of the City politicians are going to support bills like <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/115th-congress\/house-bill\/38\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">H.R.38<\/a><\/strong> so why hold a rally there?  Politicians don&#8217;t much care about protests outside their district regardless of the issue.  Is <a href=\"http:\/\/reed.house.gov\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tom Reed<\/a> going to pull his sponsorship from the bill because <a href=\"http:\/\/comptroller.nyc.gov\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Scott Stringer<\/a> is barking in the streets 400 miles from the district he represents?  No.<\/p>\n<p>The reason Union Square was chosen is because gun control advocates can&#8217;t generate any significant turnout elsewhere.  People simply will not show up.
