{"id":14905,"date":"2017-08-13T07:37:00","date_gmt":"2017-08-13T11:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=14905"},"modified":"2017-08-13T07:37:00","modified_gmt":"2017-08-13T11:37:00","slug":"leave-and-take-brian-with-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=14905","title":{"rendered":"Leave and take Brian with you"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/patch.com\/new-york\/heights-dumbo\/amp\/27212020\/nys-senator-daniel-squadron-to-resign-from-office-friday\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daniel Squadron announced<\/a> he is resigning his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">State Senate<\/a> seat.<\/p>\n<p>He is claiming his reason is that he does not have enough time to be in the legislature and <em>&#8220;lend my hand to make a difference in states across the country, pushing policies and candidates that will create a fairer and more democratic future.&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0 I think it has a lot more to do with the the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorksenatedems.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mainline Democrats clown caucus<\/a> being unable to form a governing majority in the Senate.\u00a0 Whatever the reason, <a href=\"http:\/\/legislativegazette.com\/the-irony-of-sen-squadrons-hate-crimes-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">it&#8217;s good to see him go<\/a>.<em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>What is not so good is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.briankavanagh.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Assemblyman Brian Kavanagh<\/a> is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nystateofpolitics.com\/2017\/08\/sd-26-kavanagh-launches-bid-for-squadrons-senate-seat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eyeing the seat<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; Kavanagh has been an increasingly influential member of the chamber and was among the Democratic lawmakers who <strong>negotiated the passage of the SAFE Act<\/strong>, a package of gun control measures.
