Sheriff&#8217;s seat opening this fall, two state legislators have come forth in hopes of getting the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.suffolkcountygop.com\" target=\"_blank\">GOP<\/a> nomination.<\/p>\n<p>First is <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/grafforsheriff\" target=\"_blank\">Assemblyman Al Graf<\/a> who has a law enforcement background and appears to have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsday.com\/long-island\/columnists\/rick-brand\/suffolk-republicans-hope-to-have-assemblyman-al-graf-run-for-county-legislature-1.9962955\" target=\"_blank\">support from the county party<\/a>.\u00a0 He is an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nra.org\" target=\"_blank\">NRA<\/a> member and a supportive record in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nyassembly.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Assembly<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Next is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/senators\/phil-boyle\" target=\"_blank\">Senator Phil Boyle<\/a> who has no police background and has the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/news\/politics\/state-gop-pol-eyeing-new-gig-thinks-republicans-senate-article-1.3009990\" target=\"_blank\">backing of the county Conservative Party<\/a>.\u00a0 His record on guns is awful and he is shamelessly dishonest about it.\u00a0 He has switched sides on the issue at least three times.\u00a0 He voted for the SAFE Act then sponsored a bill to repeal it.\u00a0 What he is claiming to be now I don&#8217;t know.<\/p>\n<p>Incumbent Democrat <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/SheriffDeMarco\/\" target=\"_blank\">Vincent DeMarco<\/a> has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsday.com\/long-island\/columnists\/rick-brand\/suffolk-sheriff-vincent-demarco-kicks-off-re-election-campaign-1.13313738\" target=\"_blank\">announced his intention<\/a> to run for re-election, although his name has been mentioned as a possible <a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\/realDonaldTrump\" target=\"_blank\">Trump<\/a> appointment.\u00a0 DeMarco signed onto the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysheriffs.org\" target=\"_blank\">New York State Sheriffs\u2019 Association<\/a> <em>amicus brief<\/em> calling for the courts to overturn the SAFE Act.<\/p>\n<p>With no clear way of getting rid of Boyle, the next best thing would be to make him look stupid by voting against him in a R or C primary.\u00a0 If he gets past that, vote for DeMarco or whomever his Democrat opponent is in the general.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ssb_list_wrapper\"><li class=\"fb2\" style=\"width:135px\"><iframe src=\"\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gunpoliticsny.com%2F%3Fp%3D14275&amp;layout=button_count&amp;action=like&amp;show_faces=false&amp;share=true&amp;width=135&amp;height=21&amp;appId=307091639398582\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none; overflow:hidden;  width:150px; height:21px;\" allowTransparency=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/li><li class=\"twtr\" style=\"width:90px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/share\" class=\"twitter-share-button\" data-url=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=14275\">&nbsp;<\/a><script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0],p=\/^http:\/.test(d.location)?'http':'https';if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=p+':\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js';fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document, 'script', 'twitter-wjs');<\/script><\/li><li class=\"gplus\" style=\"width:68px\"><div class=\"g-plusone\" data-size=\"medium\" data-href=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=14275\"><\/div><\/li><li class=\"ssb_linkedin\" style=\"width:64px\"><script src=\"\/\/platform.linkedin.com\/in.js\" type=\"text\/javascript\">lang: en_US<\/script><script type=\"IN\/Share\" data-url=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=14275\" data-counter=\"right\"><\/script><\/li><\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the possibility of the Suffolk Co.
