{"id":14195,"date":"2017-03-13T14:04:10","date_gmt":"2017-03-13T18:04:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=14195"},"modified":"2017-03-13T14:04:10","modified_gmt":"2017-03-13T18:04:10","slug":"garodnick-considering-challenging-de-blasio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=14195","title":{"rendered":"Garodnick considering challenging de Blasio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/nypost.com\/2017\/03\/11\/dan-garodnick-seriously-considering-mayoral-run\/\" target=\"_blank\">According to the Post<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.garodnick.com\" target=\"_blank\">Councilman Dan Garodnick<\/a> is considering challenging <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/billdeblasio\" target=\"_blank\">Mayor de Blasio<\/a> in a Democrat primary:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;Manhattan Councilman Dan Garodnick is talking with former political leaders, Democratic consultants, and donors about whether they would back his candidacy for mayor, political sources said &#8230; Sources close to the pol, whose term ends next January, said he is \u201c50-50\u201d about challenging the mayor in September\u2019s primary &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Garodnick has sponsored the following bills and resolutions during his time on the <a href=\"http:\/\/council.nyc.gov\" target=\"_blank\">City Council<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/legistar.council.nyc.gov\/Legislation.aspx\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Int 0240-2006<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; Penalties associated with the sale of toy guns.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/legistar.council.nyc.gov\/Legislation.aspx\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Int 0362-2006<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the City of New York, in relation to a gun offender registry.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/legistar.council.nyc.gov\/Legislation.aspx\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Int 0365-2006<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; Banning firearms, rifles, or shotguns that are colored so as to appear to be toy guns.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/legistar.council.nyc.gov\/Legislation.aspx\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Res 0821-2011<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; Close the background check loophole at gun shows by establishing a background check procedure for all firearms sold at gun shows. (<a href=\"http:\/\/thomas.loc.gov\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>H.R.591\/S.35<\/strong><\/a>)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/legistar.council.nyc.gov\/Legislation.aspx\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Res 1171-2011<\/strong><\/a> &#8211;
