{"id":14034,"date":"2017-02-21T12:04:20","date_gmt":"2017-02-21T17:04:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=14034"},"modified":"2017-02-21T12:04:20","modified_gmt":"2017-02-21T17:04:20","slug":"buffalo-mayoral-race","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=14034","title":{"rendered":"Buffalo mayoral race"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.byronbrown.com\" target=\"_blank\">Byron Brown<\/a> has <a href=\"http:\/\/wivb.com\/2017\/02\/20\/mayor-byron-brown-expected-to-announce-re-election-bid\/\" target=\"_blank\">announced his intention<\/a> to run for another term as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ci.buffalo.ny.us\/Mayor\" target=\"_blank\">Mayor of Buffalo<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Although Brown&#8217;s record in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\" target=\"_blank\">State Senate<\/a> was poor, he has largely avoided gun issues as Mayor except for some focus on &#8220;illegal&#8221; guns. \u00a0Examples include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ci.buffalo.ny.us\/Mayor\/Home\/Leadership\/PublicRelations\/Archive_Press_Releases\/2014Archives\/July2014\/Gun_BuyBack_Program\" target=\"_blank\">Mayor Byron W. Brown&#8217;s 7th Gun BuyBack Program<\/a>&#8220;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/news.wbfo.org\/post\/buffalo-marks-gun-violence-awareness-month-tip-campaign\" target=\"_blank\">Buffalo marks Gun Violence Awareness Month with tip campaign<\/a>&#8220;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wgrz.com\/news\/street-violence-in-buffalo-homicides-down-more-gun-confiscated\/228843331\" target=\"_blank\">Violence, homicides down in Buffalo<\/a>&#8220;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Notably, Brown did not come out in support of the SAFE Act and that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=11432\">may have cost him the Lt.
