{"id":13754,"date":"2016-12-01T09:37:52","date_gmt":"2016-12-01T14:37:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=13754"},"modified":"2016-12-01T13:39:26","modified_gmt":"2016-12-01T18:39:26","slug":"minus-one","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=13754","title":{"rendered":"Minus one"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With all the ballots counted, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brooksforsenate.org\" target=\"_blank\">John Brooks<\/a> leads incumbent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.michaelvenditto.com\" target=\"_blank\">Senator Michael Venditto<\/a> by 41 votes.<\/p>\n<p>If seated, Long Island would have two Democrat Senators for the first time in decades.\u00a0 Republicans are not willing accept this and will take it to court because, quite frankly, they have nothing else going for them.<\/p>\n<p>Even if Brooks ultimately prevails the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysenategop.net\" target=\"_blank\">Republicans<\/a> will still have a majority of 32 seats because <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/senators\/simcha-felder\" target=\"_blank\">Simcha Felder<\/a> said he would <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2016\/11\/21\/nyregion\/simcha-felder-rogue-democratic-senator-will-remain-loyal-to-gop.html\" target=\"_blank\">continue to caucus with them<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Correction:<\/strong> Democrats did have two Senators from Long Island in &#8217;09-&#8217;10.
