{"id":13645,"date":"2016-10-27T13:18:59","date_gmt":"2016-10-27T17:18:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=13645"},"modified":"2016-10-27T13:18:59","modified_gmt":"2016-10-27T17:18:59","slug":"flanagan-should-learn-from-darth-vader","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=13645","title":{"rendered":"Flanagan should learn from Darth Vader"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.governor.ny.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Governor Cuomo<\/a> has had a longstanding deal with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysenategop.net\" target=\"_blank\">Senate Republicans<\/a> helping them keep control of the upper chamber in exchange for them supporting his agenda.<\/p>\n<p>There was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.democratandchronicle.com\/story\/news\/politics\/blogs\/vote-up\/2016\/10\/24\/cuomo-senate-dems\/92695096\/\" target=\"_blank\">no way<\/a> this arrangement would continue forever:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; Cuomo has taken an active role this year in his party&#8217;s bid for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\" target=\"_blank\">state Senate<\/a>, lending his presence to big-money fundraisers for Democratic candidates and offering himself up on the campaign trail. That&#8217;s a change from cycles past, when the Democratic governor largely stayed out of the fierce battle for the chamber as it teetered between a Republican and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorksenatedems.com\" target=\"_blank\">Democratic majority<\/a> &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Apparently Republicans <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesunion.com\/local\/article\/Flanagan-slams-Cuomo-s-backing-of-Democratic-10416265.php\" target=\"_blank\">thought it would<\/a>, though:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/senators\/john-j-flanagan\" target=\"_blank\">Senate Republican Majority Leader John Flanagan<\/a> punched back on Wednesday as Gov.
