{"id":1336,"date":"2010-04-22T16:34:49","date_gmt":"2010-04-22T20:34:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=1336"},"modified":"2010-04-22T16:35:42","modified_gmt":"2010-04-22T20:35:42","slug":"gun-control-day-coming-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=1336","title":{"rendered":"Gun Control Day coming soon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gun Control Day &#8217;10 will <em>probably<\/em> be next week on Tuesday and\/or Wednesday depending on what time voting starts. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nyagv.org\" target=\"_blank\">New Yorkers Against Gun Violence<\/a> has their annual \u00a0lobby day scheduled for Tuesday. \u00a0According to their website:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;An estimated 250 students will lie down on the ground in complete silence for several minutes as a silent protest to urge state lawmakers to take urgent action and pass sensible gun laws to save lives.&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Big deal. \u00a0There were 10 times that when we did our lobby day back in January and, unlike the students who I&#8217;d bet are more interested in just skipping a day of school than in making a political statement, our side actually had to take a day off to show up at the LOB\/CAP.<\/p>\n<p>The Assembly floor calendar has not been updated yet so I&#8217;m not sure exactly which bills will get voted on in that chamber. \u00a0The new .50 prohibition bill <a href=\"http:\/\/www.assembly.state.ny.us\/leg\/?bn=a9864\" target=\"_blank\">A-9864<\/a> has not advanced from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.assembly.state.ny.us\/comm\/?sec=mem&amp;id=7\" target=\"_blank\">Codes<\/a> since its reintroduction by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.assembly.state.ny.us\/mem\/?ad=079\" target=\"_blank\">Michael Benjamin<\/a> back in February. \u00a0David Koon has not (yet) reintroduced the bills <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=1031\">he killed last month<\/a> either.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/committee\/codes\" target=\"_blank\">Senate Codes<\/a> agenda is out for next week and there are no gun bills on it.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ssb_list_wrapper\"><li class=\"fb2\" style=\"width:135px\"><iframe src=\"\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gunpoliticsny.com%2F%3Fp%3D1336&amp;layout=button_count&amp;action=like&amp;show_faces=false&amp;share=true&amp;width=135&amp;height=21&amp;appId=307091639398582\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none;
