{"id":13356,"date":"2016-08-15T10:02:28","date_gmt":"2016-08-15T14:02:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=13356"},"modified":"2016-08-15T10:02:28","modified_gmt":"2016-08-15T14:02:28","slug":"fallout-boys","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=13356","title":{"rendered":"Fallout boys"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the latest polls showing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.syracuse.com\/politics\/index.ssf\/2016\/08\/ny_poll_hillary_clinton_surges_to_30-point_lead_over_donald_trump.html\" target=\"_blank\">Hillary crushing The Donald in New York<\/a>, both <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nygop.org\" target=\"_blank\">Republicans<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.governor.ny.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Governor Cuomo<\/a> are worried about the fallout.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nystateofpolitics.com\/2016\/08\/martins-explains-his-non-endorsement-of-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\">First is Senator Jack Martins<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.martinsforcongress.com\" target=\"_blank\">Republican Jack Martins<\/a>, running for Congress in a battleground Long Island district, is among the Republicans this year who are not endorsing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\/realdonaldtrump\" target=\"_blank\">Donald Trump<\/a>, but still voting for him this year.\u00a0 In an interview with <a href=\"http:\/\/am970theanswer.com\/pages\/wide\/bill-samuels\" target=\"_blank\">Bill Samuels\u2019s Effective Radio<\/a> on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.am970theanswer.com\" target=\"_blank\">AM 970<\/a> this weekend, Martins acknowledged both Trump and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hillaryclinton.com\" target=\"_blank\">Hillary Clinton<\/a> are \u201cflawed candidates.\u201d &#8230; \u201cThankfully, I\u2019ve always run as an individual. I\u2019ve had the opportunity through elective office to take stances of different things and people know who I am, so I\u2019ve been able to use that and show through experience that I listen, I work across the aisle, I get things done,\u201d Martins said &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This mealy-mouthed answer is the best he could come up with running against a guy who has been <a href=\"http:\/\/nypost.com\/2016\/08\/09\/long-island-democrat-relying-on-dead-voters-to-make-the-ballot\/\" target=\"_blank\">busy registering the dead<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/nypost.com\/2016\/08\/15\/trumps-unpopularity-sends-cuomo-running-from-gop-alliance\/\" target=\"_blank\">Next is Cuomo<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;Gov. Cuomo\u2019s new commitment to Democratic control of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\" target=\"_blank\">state Senate<\/a> after years of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysenategop.net\" target=\"_blank\">backing Republicans<\/a> is a direct result of Donald Trump\u2019s sinking presidential campaign and the possibility it will take GOP senators down with it, senior Democrats told The Post. They also said Cuomo\u2019s new stance &#8230; results from his fear that anything short of genuine support for fellow Democrats this year could blow up in his face in the form of a primary campaign against him in 2018 &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The possibility that Cuomo could get knocked out by the Trump train is one of the few positive aspects I can think of about his campaign.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; Another prominent Democrat said private polling data showing Trump\u2019s support in New York state sharply declining over the past two weeks convinced Cuomo \u201cthat the Democrats have a good chance to take the Senate anyway, so he might as well get on board.&#8221; \u201cThe polls indicate that several Long Island Republicans may be swept out to sea because of Trump\u2019s unpopularity,\u2019\u2019 the Democrat continued, naming <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/senators\/kemp-hannon\" target=\"_blank\">Sens.
