According to Newt Gingrich<\/a>:<\/p>\n

“… \u201cIf we carry New York by the margin we should, we will have changed American history,\u201d Gingrich<\/a> said at a breakfast gathering of the New York Republican delegation in downtown Cleveland …”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I’m not seeing<\/a> New York turning red.\u00a0 There are about 5.8 million registered Democrats in the state compared with 2.7 million Republicans, 2.4 million unaffiliated and another half million or so registered in minor parties.<\/p>\n

“… \u201cNew York is in play,\u201d said Rep. Chris Collins<\/a>, who has a speaking slot on Tuesday at the convention\u2019s main stage. \u201cNew York would be one of the tougher states to win. It comes down to the four boroughs, because he\u2019s going to win Staten Island.\u201d …”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Back that statement up.\u00a0 I have not seen any evidence of this.\u00a0 Even with relatively high turnout in the Nassau special election<\/a>, the Republicans blew it.<\/p>\n

The state GOP<\/a> is in shambles.\u00a0 Where is their GOTV organization?\u00a0 Western NY<\/a>?\u00a0 The political center of gravity is New York City and the suburbs, not Buffalo.<\/p>\n
