{"id":12882,"date":"2016-03-30T15:52:13","date_gmt":"2016-03-30T19:52:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=12882"},"modified":"2016-03-30T15:57:38","modified_gmt":"2016-03-30T19:57:38","slug":"good-move-by-trump","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=12882","title":{"rendered":"Good move by Trump"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/realDonaldTrump\" target=\"_blank\">The Donald<\/a> has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/2016\/03\/30\/trump-rescinds-pledge-to-back-republican-nominee-cruz-kasich-refuse-to-commit-support.html\" target=\"_blank\">rescinded his pledge<\/a> to support the eventual Republican presidential nominee:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; When asked if he would keep the pledge he signed last September, Trump responded &#8220;No, I won\u2019t.&#8221; The real estate mogul explained that he was taking back the pledge because, &#8220;I have been treated very unfairly,&#8221; and listed the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rnc.org\" target=\"_blank\">Republican National Committee<\/a> and party establishment among those he believes have wronged him &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Trump is crying foul because the ~35-40% plurality he&#8217;s won in the states is nowhere close to what he would need to win the general election.  Worse, <a href=\"https:\/\/pjmedia.com\/election\/2016\/03\/30\/trump-popularity-tanks-as-liberal-states-set-to-vote\/\" target=\"_blank\">his popularity continues to decline<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><center><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Trump has a 70.2 % unfavorable rating in Marquette Poll<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Michael Tackett (@tackettdc) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tackettdc\/status\/715218467394359296\">March 30, 2016<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/center><\/p>\n<p>This means he is only slightly more popular than standing downwind from a burning tire.<\/p>\n<p>The possibility of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.houstonchronicle.com\/news\/politics\/article\/Analysis-Can-Trump-become-so-unpopular-that-7217320.php\" target=\"_blank\">Republicans losing control of the House<\/a> has even come up.  We are not there yet, but if the campaign keeps <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2016\/03\/29\/trump-campaign-manager-corey-lewandowski-charged-with-battery-for-grabbing-reporter-in-florida.html\" target=\"_blank\">stuff like this up<\/a> it could go up for grabs.
