Libertarian Party<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/libertymovement.org\/6\/post\/2015\/08\/historic-challenge-to-new-yorks-pistol-permit-law.html\" target=\"_blank\">filed a lawsuit<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;A group of citizens have filed a frontal legal assault on New York\u2019s pistol permit law, known as the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sullivan_Act\" target=\"_blank\">Sullivan Act<\/a>, after the corrupt <a href=\"http:\/\/www.history.com\/topics\/tammany-hall\" target=\"_blank\">Tammany Hall<\/a> politician who sponsored it in 1911.\u00a0 The statute requires law-abiding citizens to get government permission before arming themselves against the hordes of violent criminals roaming New York\u2019s streets.\u00a0 The lawsuit, filed in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nywd.uscourts.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Federal Court in Buffalo<\/a>, complains that alone among the fundamental rights spelled out in the Bill of Rights, only the right to bear arms requires that citizens get government permission before exercising it.\u00a0 The complaint notes that seeking such permission can takes years and several thousand dollars and is often denied arbitrarily &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ca2.uscourts.gov\" target=\"_blank\">2nd Circuit<\/a> already upheld the Sullivan Act in the <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.findlaw.com\/decided\/2012\/11\/ny-concealed-carry-laws-proper-cause-provision-upheld.html\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Kachalsky v. County of Westchester<\/em><\/a> case several years ago and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\" target=\"_blank\">SCOTUS<\/a> declined to hear an appeal.\u00a0 Unless they eventually issue a favorable ruling on another case, like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/frankminiter\/2015\/06\/22\/is-this-the-gun-case-the-u-s-supreme-court-will-take\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Peruta v.
