“Don’t pick a SAFE Act supporter.\u00a0 That’s the message the state Rifle and Pistol Association<\/a> is urging its members to tell their local senators as Senate Republicans<\/a> increasingly consider dumping Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos<\/a>.\u00a0 The group encouraged its members to tell senators to back Sen. John DeFrancisco, R-Syracuse<\/a>, to succeed Skelos — instead of Long Island Sen. John Flanagan<\/a>.\u00a0 “It appears the new majority leader of the NYS Senate is going to be one of the following two men,” wrote Tom King<\/a>, the head of the Rifle and Pistol Association, yesterday to supporters.\u00a0 “John DeFrancisco a Syracuse based conservative senator who voted against the SAFE Act or John Flannigan (sic) a Long Island base Senator who voted for the SAFE Act. I miss Uncle Joe<\/a>.\u00a0 He had lots of faults but was a much better leader than Skelos.<\/p>\n
