Andrew Cuomo\u2019s<\/a> gun control law known as the SAFE Act &#8230; <em>\u201cI urge Assembly Democrats on the <a href=\"http:\/\/assembly.state.ny.us\/comm\/?sec=mem&#038;id=7\" target=\"_blank\">Codes Committee<\/a> to bring this legislation to the floor for an up or down vote,\u201d<\/em> said Tenney &#8230;<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lockportjournal.com\/news\/local_news\/ceretto-to-push-for-safe-act-repeal\/article_5d9df132-040d-5fac-9d3c-7361ca2d0c9d.html\" target=\"_blank\">Ceretto to push for SAFE Act repeal<\/a> &#8211; New York State <a href=\"http:\/\/assembly.state.ny.us\/mem\/John-D-Ceretto\" target=\"_blank\">Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-Lewiston<\/a>, announced support Wednesday in the <a href=\"http:\/\/assembly.state.ny.us\/comm\/?sec=mem&#038;id=7\" target=\"_blank\">Assembly&#8217;s Codes Committee<\/a> for legislation that would fully repeal the Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act of 2013. The move would clear the way for the measure to come to the floor for an Assembly vote. <em>&#8220;Law-abiding gun owners have been burdened by the SAFE Act for far too long, and it\u2019s time to bring this controversial issue back to the Assembly floor for a vote, so we can repeal this overbearing law once and for all,&#8221;<\/em> Ceretto said in a press release &#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We go through this every year.  A handful of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nyracc.com\" target=\"_blank\">Assembly Republicans<\/a> ask some of their pro-gun bills be put on the committee agenda.  There is a party line and the bills are held for consideration with no further action taken.<\/p>\n<p>The legislature is not going to repeal SAFE.  Neither chamber is even going to allow a bill to come up for a vote.  Politicians who say otherwise are just pandering to their base.
