Cuomo wins re-election but fails to get a\u00a0mandate<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>While <a href=\"http:\/\/www.robastorino.com\" target=\"_blank\">Rob Astorino<\/a> lost,\u00a0 much of that can be attributed to the lack of support by the GOP establishment many of whom were openly campaigning for Cuomo&#8217;s re-election.\u00a0 Taken in total, gun control was a loser of an issue all across the state.\u00a0 Here is the breakdown.<\/p>\n<p>On Long Island:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>SAFE Act opponent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zeldinforcongress.com\" target=\"_blank\">Lee Zeldin<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/longisland.news12.com\/news\/rep-bishop-concedes-to-lee-zeldin-1.9582571\" target=\"_blank\">defeated<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.longislandexchange.com\/press-releases\/new-yorkers-against-gun-violence-endorses-congressman-tim-bishop-for-re-election\/\" target=\"_blank\">New Yorkers Against Gun Violence endorsed<\/a> incumbent <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tim_Bishop\" target=\"_blank\">Congressman Tim Bishop<\/a> in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latfor.state.ny.us\/maps\/2012c\/fc01.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">District 1<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>SAFE Act supporter <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hennesseyforassembly.com\" target=\"_blank\">Assemblyman Ed Hennessey<\/a> was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsday.com\/long-island\/politics\/22-li-assembly-races-up-for-grabs-1.9584860\" target=\"_blank\">defeated<\/a> by pro-gun <a href=\"http:\/\/www.votedeanmurray.com\" target=\"_blank\">Dean Murray<\/a> in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latfor.state.ny.us\/maps\/2012a\/fa003.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">District 3<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the Hudson Valley:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nysrpa-pvf.org\" target=\"_blank\">NYSRPA<\/a> endorsed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sueserino.com\" target=\"_blank\">Sue Serino<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.poughkeepsiejournal.com\/story\/news\/local\/2014\/11\/04\/41st-state-senate-district-election\/18434277\/\" target=\"_blank\">defeated<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.longislandexchange.com\/press-releases\/new-yorkers-against-gun-violence-endorses-state-senator-terry-gipson-for-re-election\/\" target=\"_blank\">New Yorkers Against Gun Violence endorsed<\/a> incumbent <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">and SAFE Act supporter <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Terry_Gipson\" target=\"_blank\">Senator Terry Gipson<\/a> in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latfor.state.ny.us\/maps\/2012s\/fs41.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">District 41<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>New Yorkers Against Gun Violence <a href=\"http:\/\/mtkisco.dailyvoice.com\/politics\/wagner-receives-backing-anti-gun-violence-group\" target=\"_blank\">Board member and endorsed candidate<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wagner4ny.com\" target=\"_blank\">Justin Wagner<\/a> was defeated for the second time in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latfor.state.ny.us\/maps\/2012s\/fs40.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Senate District 40<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the Capital District:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>NYSRPA endorsed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.georgeamedore.com\" target=\"_blank\">George Amedore<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbs6albany.com\/news\/features\/top-story\/stories\/amedore-declares-victory-over-tkaczyk-46th-state-senate-race-20746.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">defeated incumbent<\/a> SAFE supporter <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cecilia_Tkaczyk\" target=\"_blank\">Senator Cecilia Tkaczyk<\/a> in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latfor.state.ny.us\/maps\/2012s\/fs46.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">District 46<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the North Country:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>SAFE Act supporter <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Addie_Jenne_Russell\" target=\"_blank\">Assemblywoman Addie Russell<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/centralny.twcnews.com\/content\/news\/782848\/assemblywoman-russell-eyes-absentee-count--trailing-challenger\/\" target=\"_blank\">lost<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nrapvf.org\" target=\"_blank\">NRA endorsed<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnbyrneforassembly.com\" target=\"_blank\">John Byrne<\/a> in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.syracuse.com\/news\/index.ssf\/2014\/11\/john_katko_declared_winner_over_rep_dan_maffei_in_race_for_congress.html\" target=\"_blank\">defeated<\/a> antigun incumbent <a
